Welcome to Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Crematory. We are conveniently located in the heart of the West end of Dubuque on Asbury Road. With our two chapels and large family lounge, our funeral home is able to provide your family with spacious, yet homelike, amenities. And combine that with our longstanding tradition of excellent funeral care in Dubuque, you can trust us to be there for you and your family when you need us the most.
Our Dubuque tradition began as the Hoffmann Mortuary when it was opened in 1846 on fifteenth & Clay (Central) by Mathias M. Hoffmann Sr. In 1878, the business was turned over to Mathias M. Hoffmann II. Afterwards, the Mortuary was turned over to Mathias' son, Alois M. Hoffmann in 1916. In 1939, Alois and Mabel moved the mortuary to 1640 Main, which was at that time known as the Lacey Mansion. Jim and Sharon Schneider purchased the mortuary in 1985, changing the name to the Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home. Following the untimely death of Dennis Kitchen, Jim and Sharon purchased the Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, located at 3860 Asbury Road and now known as the Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home. In 2019, the Main Street location was consolidated into Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 3860 Asbury Road.
